Dear Mrs. Humphrey,
Thank you for the donation to the shoe bank. It sent me down memory lane to a time long ago when my husband and I, on our visits to our hometown, would sit in the church pew with you and Uncle Lex. A very nice memory.

Dear Reader,

About two months ago, I learned that a long-time friend had died, unexpectedly and it seems, rather tragically. I want to take a moment now, as I think about him, to acknowledge what he meant to me.

Not enough words, not a big enough website, not a long enough lifetime to tell you just how much I love you and what a GREAT Mom, Nonna and person you are. The love, attention and support you have given us is unbelievable. Now that I am a mother there is rarely a day that goes by that I do not think, “How did she do this?”

Dear Mom,

I know you are in heaven now. No more pain, no more sadness. Perhaps some may think it strange for me to write this here. But I know that you hear the words of my heart as I miss you tonight. You raised 14 children to be loving, responsible and giving people, and in turn they have brought grandchildren and great-grandchildren into this world to also be raised with love. I know that no one is perfect, and I even heard you say it of yourself. But I want to say that you were a remarkable woman. I

I really appreciate all your support.

Peace and Grace

Dear U.S. Military AND Their Families,

I hope my words can do justice to the sacrifices you and your families make on a daily basis.

First, I am in awe of your sacrifices for our country. Putting your life on the line, and being separated from your family for great lengths of time is barely imaginable to me. Your bravery, tenacity, and dedication are incredibly honorable.

Equally impressive and awe-inspiring to me, especially since I am a wife and mother, are the sacrifices of the families. To have your husband/wife/loved one away for such a long time and to

Distance has grown between us in the past years. Lifes have grown, families started, pain, joy and the grind have all ensued. I just wanted you to know that you touched my life more than you will ever know. You were one of the only people in my life that I can truely call a friend. I wish you and Michelle and the kids all the best in life and hope that our paths meet again. You are special.

Dave

Mom,

I don't know if you remember all the mornings you woke me up so I wouldn't be late for school, But I do. Remember all the nights you stayed up late packing my lunch because I hated the cafeteria food and then the late nights were because I hadn't made it home "exactly" by curfew? I do. What about the hugs & kisses for the scraped knees and the broken hearts? I haven't forgotten them either.
Even now that I'm nearly 40(ugh!)...you are still there supporting me and loving me. Thank you. If I

Dear Carla -

I am sure many of the area children would love to say "thank you" but since you are mostly behind the scenes working they never see you. So I am telling you from all those children "thank you". Thank you for changing the lives of so many area children one pair of shoes at a time.

Thank you for always believing in me even when my own family didn't (think car accident). You not only took me to Germany on a trip of a lifetime, but you taught me life lessons that I have shared with my own students and my own children. You have always been an important person in my life since the first time you spelled my name wrong (Gill) in Sunday School class. Words cannot express my gratitude for all that you have done for me. I am eternally grateful. Thank you, Mrs. Warg! Love, Jill
